Late last summer I was working in a town outside of Toronto called Oshawa. This was where I bought a Canon Rebel Film camera off of a self admitted crackhead who needed an extra 20 bucks so he could score some rock. Call it poor time management, lack of motivation or resources, but I never got around to actually using that camera until earlier this year. Although expensive and really tough to do, in comparison to digital shooting film is nothing but thought provoking and very rewarding and for a few months I actually left my digital camera (Canon 550D) completely untouched.
I struggled immensely in the beginning, having whole rolls of film turn out soft, out of focus or just plain blank, but I stuck with it. Having a new challenge was refreshing, and I developed an obsession. The natural grain and colours produced by 35mm are things that cannot be replicated by anything digital, period.
