Winter needs to end asap. This video of VAG Event 2013 brings us back to the middle of show season. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen that captures the ambiance and atmosphere of a car show.
For me, H20i is the strip. I’m not a VW guy. I’m there to cruise up and down Coastal all weekend long. And have the occasional race. Considering Bron’s BMW and my Subie are both slow as balls, he was the only person I’d race. Our first race, I missed third so hard I didn’t even bother searching for it and let off.
Steve is washing off the newly painted E30. Silver RS’ on White looks great. I MAY be biased though. :)
Shits going down when Matt has his trunk open.
Stopped by at the DQ to reminisce about our first H20 trip. LINK>
Caught some rollers and this purple B5 pulled over for a few warnings.
As a primarily VW show it is only fitting that I show you some.
I showed you this mk4 at Spring Fling with Lobster Claws on it; I think I liked those better. They suited the massive Porsche brakes.
There were a few other great mk4s in attendance:
One of my top 5 favorite wheels on probably one of my top 5 favorite mk1s:
I do NOT like mk3s…but there are certainly exceptions to every rule.
The others, all of which were looking great!
Each year this is the local VAG show I look forward to the most. It typically brings a wide array of European beauties and this year did not disappoint.
Pfaff Tuning was the title sponsor once again
I spent some time browsing the Audi’s; it always surprises me how few end up showing, nevertheless they are my favorite part of the show.
More to come soon, I haven’t even touched VW; let alone Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes. I also got some great shots of our own cars, 6 of us were fortunate enough to place!
After a quick pitstop at Cars and Coffee I made my way over to the 2013 Subaru Hypermeet. I felt like there was a tad more variety this year compared to previous years. HREs would not have been seen before. Neither would that Forester trailer combo.
This. Pretty much the car I lusted after in high school Blue GC, with rally style (Compomotive, Impuls etc) wheels.
Satin red Plastidipped GD. Well done.
My old wheels!! The owner is still happy with them. Even sporting the same 2+ year old paint job. Industrial rust paint FTW.
Tremcladed by the owner on his driveway. Impressize. My tremcladed bumper on the other hand looks like ass.
The addition of the BRZ, is much welcomed.
Despite the entire day of rain and the long drive the cruise was certainly a success. We had over 20 cars; which despite being tough to coordinate, was a great turnout!
The show itself had a different venue than last year which allowed for full 1/4 mile runs and a better layout for the vendor area. Personally, I think the Mustangs stole the drag race show (despite this being a Euro event).
As always, we had a blast!
The show was certainly not lacking of some serious cars…
A few of my favorite Audi’s, from the internet and real life.
A few non Euro highlights.
Looking through my flickr I realized this is my 5th year at Spring Fling. It marks the opening of the show season for the VW/Audi guys and gals. I don’t think a year has passed where it hasn’t rained, been 5*, or been so hot and humid you thought you were in Florida. Despite that we all come together to see what the winter months have produced. There are always far too many cars to shoot; as this show grows with each year. Below were some personal favorites.
Since Matt stole (his) lens I was using, I used the 50mm and decided to highlight some wheel/fitment selections. Each year things are taken more and more extreme… -geoff
Jay’s FT 1.8t swapped mkIII (which I think he is selling) sitting pretty…despite not having centre caps for the wheels he finally put to use after the better part of half a decade :p -geoff
Butt-er fingers over here. Managed to drop a soup can onto Matt’s rear quarter. Luckily the organizers are stand up guys and are fixing the dent for free. I assure you, we only took these pictures because she damaged Matt’s car ;) -Gill
We’re most likely making the trek to Berlin Klassik this year. …..I will be limited to the visitors lot. -Gill
