Great video from the makers of Urban Outlaw. A short look at #277 running through the desert.
Toyota’s TMG (Their German based racing division, also building the LMP1 car) has confirmed to be constructing a Yaris based WRC spec car for the 2014 season. It will be used as an evaluating platform for a full factory effort in the short future. They seem relatively certain of future rallying programs. VW and Hyundai are full fledged factory WRC programs. M-Sport is a privately funded team running Ford Fiestas. Citroen will be scaling back their WRC commitment with their WTCC endeavor taking first stage. The addition of Toyota is a dose of good news the FIA will take. They need the car count.
Chris Harris gets a great insider view to a full factory DTM racer. BMWs M3 DTM machine. It’s a marvel to see how advanced a racecar they are. More silhouette than production based. I knew Chris Harris was an excellent racer but to step into a works team and run only 1.5 seconds off the defending champion’s (Canadian Bruno Spengler) time? That’s impressive. Probably would have been enough to place on the grid in an actual race.
Its off season for us. Not much on the docket. Dan is working away on his Caddy, Adrian on his motor build, I’m looking for a new car, Mauncho is shopping for items for his new ride, and a few other things in the works. That’s about it. Nothing major and no real progress in the last few weeks. The start of winter is usually the lull before the winter builds start going. Headed over to Dan’s in the winter beater. The Subie will not be seeing summer anymore, good riddance. Still dumped though. :)
Dan and Geoff decided to build on a smaller scale. 1/24th to be precise. I sort of wanted to join in too. But I have issues with patience….I have none. I’d end up tossing the kits out after a few days of painting, gimme Minichamps and Autoart die-casts over these any day. I MIGHT end up changing my mind later though.
Dan bought a 993 GT3, Tom Kristensen DTM car and a VW golf. Geoff bought a Mike Rockenfeller DTM car.
Not a whole lot was accomplished as time was taking up watching Pacific Rim. Engine components mostly.
James Courtney escaped from major injuries this weekend after Alexander Premat plowed into the side of his car. Not much blamed can be put on Premat though. Once you leave the track at that speed at that corner, you’re pretty much a passenger.
The Goodwood Revival is THE historic racing event. Brings back the days when driver had to tip toe cars around the track. Add rain into the mix, and you get this. Kenny Brack, something about Swedes that make them so good at going sideways.
Video of Brack going a bit more sideways.
Also added Chris Harris kickin some ass.
