FITTED 2014 via Gill

We have two commitments in Canada FITTED and Eurokracy.  These are the two events that we attend no ifs, ands or buts.  Now on its 5th year, the show decided to ramp up the quality over quantity.  I can’t remember another show in Toronto where the competing cars were of this caliber

Scraped.Crusaders. Favourite Ride at Fitted Lifestyle presented by Broadway Static Suspension

After much deliberation we chose the W114 owned by the mustachioed Richard C. We didn’t have certain criteria to go by. We didn’t hold prejudices against Euro, Domestic or Japanese rides. We simply chose the car that we loved, that had that je ne sais quoi.

An Old Merc, bagged on RSs coloured matched to an awesome cream interior. Finished off with blue centre caps. It’s not an extensive build. But its a build that was built with all the correct choices.

Bravo, Richard.

I’ve always preferred static over air but with the first 5 rides pictures, i can’t help but love air.   Johnathan Prem’s Best of how winning 240sx.

Continuing the bagged coupe theme is this awesome RX-7.

Scott had a bagged white E46 M3 last year.  He now owns THE most unassuming 450hp+ car I’ve ever seen.  This is phase 1 for his 135.

Tyler Griffin’s freshly redoine Corrado.  Fresh as in, out of paint and final assembly being complete mere hours before the drive to FITTED.

I didn’t spend too much time outdoors as I haven’t adjusted to the warm weather yet.  However there were some great example of cars that could had easily been displayed indoors.  Including that EF civic, the Teknotik EVO and Jay’s 2.7TT swapped B6 Audi.

Touge Tuning Meet.

The TougeTuning meet.  I had zero expectations for this meet.  I figured since it was very early into the season the amount of cars would be bleak.  Seeing as though its been one of the longest winters in recent memories, how many cars would be ready for late April?  Apparently a lot.

@NA1Danio ‘s NSX.   LevelOne at its finest.

There was nothing more I wanted in high school than a blue GC coupe, with a big wing, big exhaust and gold wheels.  I think I want one again.

chevy 20142014-WTCC-Honda-Civic

Citroen has released video and images of their C-Elysee already.  Its now time for Honda and Chevrolet to show their cards.  Honda has gone with a Civic while Chevy has chosen the tried and tested Cruze.  It’s really a crap shoot picking a winner this year.  Can Chevy rely on last year’s dominance to carry through?  Can Honda build on last years solid campaign?  Or will Citroen come in and take advantage of the new rules?  I’ll wager with the later.  It’ll be a repeat of the WRC year with newcomer VW becoming the juggernaut.  The French squad has used the entire year as r & d while the other teams had to compete.  I’ll tap Muller for the title.

Found a video comparing the 2013 and 2014 spec Cruzes.  Major changes. Warning, music is terrible.

While on touring cars.  Honda has chosen to campaign a Civic wagon in the BTCC.  Coincidentally it has now become my favourite touring car for the 2014 season.  A turbo wagon racecar.  Yes on multiple levels.

Tires23 BBQ

After Cars and Coffee and Subaru Hypermeet came the TIres23 BBQ.   Year in and year out the BBQ events that local parts stores put one are my favourite.  Maybe I’m just a sucker for free food.  Definitely wasn’t missing the Tires23 event either.  I’ve only been there 10 times or so this summer alone :(.

Awesome looking Prelude.  Don’t see these stanced out often.

Matt recently shot this 86 for a print feature.

I see overfendered, kitted out Silvias and think, THIS IS WHATS MISSING IN MY LIFE.

Pretty sure this car won the sound off.  Eardrums certainly thought so.

2313232

Thought I missed this car when he left the Subaru Hypermeet early.  Luckily caught it here

Brian’s boner dissipated long enough for me to snap this pic.  EF fiend.

Not much needs to be done for 1Ms to look awesome.

Jess Kang’s EF

Older stanced cars are my favourite.  Whats better than showing an older chassis some love.  No need to scrap them.  They may not have the same part support as newer cars but they make up for it in character.  Jess Kang’s EF is one such example.  The parts list isn’t extensive.  The final product that she was able to create, is certainly noteworthy.  People say you can stance any old car and get internet points.  Not true, your mods still have to come together in one cohesive body.  If you have to mangle your fenders just to fit those RSs you bought.  THAT isn’t cool.  If you leave the small nicks and dents your 20+ year old car have inevitably accumulated, that’s just personality.

While Jess is an accomplished photographer she asked Jon Schusteritsch and Ivy League East’s Brian Arthus to take over the camera duties.  I’ve found a lot of photographers are hesitant to shoot their own cars.

White on white with black trim and retro grey interior.  The woodgrain wheel brings it all together.  Be it NRG, Momo or Nardi they as ways look good in a retro ride.

Your name, Your car:

Jess Kang, 1991 Honda Civic DX (EF sedan)

What do you do?

I am a Sales Lead Supervisor at White House Black Market and photographer for Canibeat

What do you love more, your boyfriend or your car?

Well right now, I’m single haha, but there’s nothing I could love more than my car :)

When did you buy your car, and when did you start modding it?

I bought the car in May 2012. I had just moved out of home with nothing but my bags. I scrounged up the money I had and bought the car with 134k miles on it. It was stock for a week and lowered on it’s stock wheels right after. A few weeks later, I received my first set of wheels and threw them on immediately.

What mods are currently on the car?

The car is basically stock besides a custom suspension. People ask me what suspension I’m on and I can’t really answer them other than “custom.” The suspension is a hybrid combination CRX and Accord coilovers. With the car being as low as it is, it still travels very well. My rear suspension is maxed out but the front can go lower. I also have a NRG woodgrain steering wheel that I absolutely love. My wheels are custom widened steelies.

I also have a mk3 lip on my front bumper. The front and rear bumper sits much, much higher than the actual frame of the car so the lip levels out the undercarriage. I had my motor raised but my motor mounts have been shot for a while so I’m really taking a risk everytime I drive the car haha.

Is there an older car that doesn’t look better with a mk3 lip?  Same goes for the wink mirror.

32

Do you cringe or smile when you drag frame on an obstacle?

At this point, I don’t think I make any facial expressions haha. It’s such a normal occurrence that I’m used to it by now. When it doesn’t scrape when it should is when I start to get worried

If you didn’t own your current car, what would you be driving? Would it be modded?

If I didn’t own this EF, I’d probably be driving a 3rd Gen Accord Sedan with the flip-up headlights haha, and it would probably be lower. People ask me why I never considered an Euro car, and believe me I have, but I figure realistically, old school Japanese cars are better for me, and they go lower.

How long are you holding on to it?

EF sedans are pretty hard to find in good condition. I have a line of people that are waiting for me to sell this car, and maybe one day I will, but not anytime soon.

Whats next?

For the spring, I plan on coming out a little lower by switching from 175/50 tires to 165/50 tires. I also will be ordering top hats for the rear so I can drop the rear a bit more. Other than that, there’s not much that I plan for the car other than normal maintenance. I want to keep it a simple and clean daily.

Shout outs.

Id’ like to thank a few people for helping me with the car. I wont mention their names because of unfortunate events that lead us to drift our own ways, but I will always be thankful.

Thanks Jess, for allowing us to post you car!!
