Cars and Coffee Season Opener

Dart, 911, 911, 911, 911, 911, 911, 911, Corvette, Corvette.  Few things have me waking up at 7am on a Sunday.  That line up will do it.

cc2

Yesterday was the first Cars and Coffee event held at Engineered Automotive.  They’re held the first Sunday of every month in Vaughn.  The early time of 8-11am seems to deter most of the riff raff you normally see at Ertefa or rice meets in Toronto.   I could only remember a few cars that were below the level Cars and Coffee events worldwide expects at their events.  My 540i included.  Personally,  for these reasons its a meet I try to go to as much as possible.  Also the free coffee and timbits are enticing.

cc22

As a lifetime Porsche fanboy and Ferrari hater, the exponential increase in Porsche 911/930/993, really puts a damper on my desire to ever owning one of them.  I can only hope the bubble bursts and the market settles way lower.  Even then, the idea of owning a Porsche is far fetched, but one can dream. In that dream, I’d own this.  Later 993 with the wider arches, coilovers, half cage, nice wheels, tan leather on black. The only thing I’d add is the ducktail from the 993 below.

cc8cc24

Porsches were out in full force.  The white 930 above, is still one of my favourite local cars.

Datsun Zs are a rare sight.  Seeing two beautifully modded Zs in one place was fortuitous.  I gravitate more to the white one wide WIDE wheels and flares.  But the blue example was impeccable.

cc14 cc25

Little Red Corvette.  If I owned, this I’d be blasting Prince through the speakers everywhere I went.

cc21cc20

There are way more old Citroens in the GTA than I had thought.  This SM, I’ve seen before, but with the owner demonstrating it’s hydraulic suspension system you get to appreciate the ingenious design even more.  IMO, this is in the running for the best looking car ever made.   And how could you not love that one spoke wheel?  There were also two 2CVs, a DS convertible and a DS sedan.  I think EA should start offering croissants with their Timbits.

cc16cc10cc26

From anaemic French hatchbacks to American muscle.   I don’t understand how so many american show car builds (link) have ugly offsets, and disproportionately huge wheels when a meaty setup like this with proportionally sized wheels look infinitely better.

cc17cc18

I’m typically not a fan of yellow cars that aren’t Porsches but the colour works well on this Alfa and the Viper ACR below.

cc19cc3

American hatchback, European coupe, Freerunner Truck, and a Japanese wagon.  The mix of cars at Cars and Coffee is the reason I’ll be back in June.  The Ford had a great livery, based on Colin’s old M-Sport Focus from the early 2000s.  The back 1 Series, is on Works this year.  A great upgrade from last year.  The truck looked like it could drive over half the cars at the show. It seemed dirty enough to assume that it actually goes off-road.   And the Honda wagon, looked so clean, its amazing that its an almost 30 years old Japanese car.

It was a good start to May.  Hopefully, I’ll see a few of you guys out there in June.

H2Oi 2014 Leftovers

h257

The last few shots from our H20i trip consists of the multitude of visitors and random cars that came by 75th.   Most of whom stopped by to see Brian Arthus who seems to know everyone with a car in the U.S.   Including @farklefitment.

86 Day

ae6

86 day, August 6th.  Its the first time I’ve heard of it. As soon as I found out Cyrious Garageworks was holding festivities, I was there along with Dave.  We probably should have shown up a bit early to take photos.  It was really dark within an hour.  Also I think i took more pics of non AE86s than 86s.

I can’t wait till I put my coilovers on.  I haven’t been able to comfortable park my car within the cool cars for months.  I parked in the adjacent lot with this guy.

ae12

I had no idea the GTA had this many clean 86s.  I was fully expecting rusted rockers, bent quarters and flimsy bumpers.  Instead, there were 10-15 of the cleanest Corollas I’ve ever seen.

Got my first look at Aiden’s new wheel setup.  Those Luxaru Abstracts are damn nice.

ae2

Big body sedans with RWD and a turbo.  This Chaser fits the bill for my ideal daily.

ae16

Dan’s Lexus, looking good as always.

ae11

There was a lineup of around 30 BRZ/FR-Ss.  I only grab a pic of one lol

ae3

Satin Starlet.  I really like the green paint on this one.

ae5

It may not be in the greatest condition, but I’m glad this Celica is still on the road.

NextMod Mississauga X Scion Meet.

This was a last minute meet I heard about through Instagram. I checked the forecast to see if there would be rain, clears skies ahead they said.    So I made my way down to Mississauga, to meet Dave from Stanceiseverything.com.  Unfortuntely, it started to rain within 20 minutes of my arrival.  Back to Brampton I went.  I was only able to grab a few shots.

nm10

Chris’ Rocket Bunny Scion is definitely one of my favourite Tra Kyoto builds.  The charcoal silver and black wheels work very wheel together.

nm3 nm2

Navin’s Rocket Bunny FD.  Whats not to like about an RX-7?  I’m not sure any other car has aged as well is the FD.

nm5 nm6
nm9nm1

Mathew’s S14.  Cleanest S chassis around.  While I love S chassis that live the drift slut life a clean S is so damn refreshing.

Scraped.Crusaders. Favourite Ride of 2013

Choice

Our crew always has a favourite car of the year.  We never post about it.   We just always have one car we talk about.  And it’s always from H2Oi.  Previous years include Jay’s Legacy Wagon, LooneyLow’s Civic, that boosted Trailblazer (everyone who was there, knows the one).  Inevitably there would be more this year. So we decided as a group to make an award for the owner. However, some suggested that we lean towards a VAG car.  We tried to oblige.  Someone in a VW had to step up. About the award….2 years ago, I made the 14 hour drive back home from OCMD without a hitch. Somehow I did not fall asleep.  All was well, the shitbox made it there and back..  Unfortunately on the 1 hour commute home from work the next day, this dumbass fell asleep (eastbound on Lakeshore, around Jameson for the curious locals), and curbed my RS’s.  CURBED them.  It was non salvageable, how it continued to hold air is beyond me.  2 years later, the beebs were gone, the lip was still around.  Why not get rid of it in style?  Few minutes on Solidworks, few more on a laser cutter and we had our award. Painting and assembly took longer than anticipated, but the final product we can be proud of.

Preet6

It took us a few days to commit to a winner.  Luckily for us and some VW fanboys, Nick Weir stepped up.  It’s definitely a Volkswagen, yet it ruffles the feathers of the purists.  I honestly don’t understand why all car people can’t get along. We like stance, we like drifting, we like muscle cars, we like offroad trucks, we like supercars, we like the Euro scene, we like the JDM scene. Why belittle eachother?  Honda and VW fans seem to fit this bill the most. This Caddy has to satisfy everyone.  Its a bagged Volkswagen car/truck with a Honda K swap and Work wheels.  The colour combination of cream exterior and dark grey wheel centres really pull the project together.  I would not have guessed that Meisters would work this well on a Caddy. Love the builds that are different.  Much better than a set of RSs.

The project isn’t complete for Nick.  He’s still got lots of plans for this car during the winter.

Vagkraft 2013 by Matt

This year Vagkraft for me was seen from a much different perspective than usual, and that was the perspective of a vendor. Even though the Pfaff Tuning booth did need attention, I was able to slip away and snap some shots of cars that really stood out to me, so here are my personal favorites.

My all time favorite car of the day. Hats off to the owner.

IMG_0344

Have to give props to my bro for winning this year for the third year in a row, killin it!

Sean’s beautiful mk3, we wish you a full recovery my friend.

IMG_0323 IMG_0316

AirAssisted showed up with their laid out 50’s Ford pickup, showing everyone in the air game how it’s done.

IMG_0334

Ladeedub’s City got the air treatment as well, and it was oh so good!

IMG_0328

IMG_0326

Frankie though not in the show, still creates a buzz everywhere this car goes.

IMG_0308
Vossen had a good presence at the Tuning booth this year.

IMG_0311

Second favorite to the TT was this Beetle, god I couldn’t get enough of this thing!

IMG_0331
You know when there is that one car every year that sticks in your head, and you keep seeing it at all the meets and shows, but never meet the guy/girl…well that is whats happening for me with this E30 M3. (and even with this love, I still didn’t get a full shot of it <– idiot)

IMG_0324

Lets not forget Carm’s E30 posted up right next to the M3.

IMG_0336

And if Carm is there, you know Manolo is there 😛

All in all another great year for a very chill show. Good friends, good crowd, great prizes and some sweet cars.

Tires23 BBQ

After Cars and Coffee and Subaru Hypermeet came the TIres23 BBQ.   Year in and year out the BBQ events that local parts stores put one are my favourite.  Maybe I’m just a sucker for free food.  Definitely wasn’t missing the Tires23 event either.  I’ve only been there 10 times or so this summer alone :(.

StaticMotion.

Awesome looking Prelude.  Don’t see these stanced out often.

Matt recently shot this 86 for a print feature.

I see overfendered, kitted out Silvias and think, THIS IS WHATS MISSING IN MY LIFE.

2311239

Pretty sure this car won the sound off.  Eardrums certainly thought so.

2313232

Thought I missed this car when he left the Subaru Hypermeet early.  Luckily caught it here

Brian’s boner dissipated long enough for me to snap this pic.  EF fiend.

Precision Rim Repair.

We like shinny things.  When Geoff and I decided to get our wheels refinished we wanted to have the best.  I’ve always been impressed with Dave’s (of Stanceiseverything.com) Works.  So I went to the shop responsible for polishing them.   Precision Rim Repair.  They are more than just a polishing shop.  They correct bends, re weld cracks, sandblast, strip, and overall perform miracles on damaged wheels.  While dropping the wheels off Ric found a crack on one of my barrels.  Fortunately, I was already at the right place.  It was welded up while the set was getting polished.  Geoff`s LM`s are currently getting a polish job too.  Along with a few dents straightened.
Pics of my beebs soon.  This preview will do for now/  😉

Snow Shenanigans

We haven’t had any photo shoots as a group this winter.  We decided to gather 5 MK2s and do what we do.  But before that some of us watched Dredd at Matt’s house.  Verdict:  The movie is awesome.

It took us a while before we realized the higher levels all had snow.  As SOON as we hit the top…..we needed shovels.  By we I mean everyone without a Subaru :).  Even Matt needed help.  In his defense, he went looking for a big mound of snow.
