Citroen has released video and images of their C-Elysee already. Its now time for Honda and Chevrolet to show their cards. Honda has gone with a Civic while Chevy has chosen the tried and tested Cruze. It’s really a crap shoot picking a winner this year. Can Chevy rely on last year’s dominance to carry through? Can Honda build on last years solid campaign? Or will Citroen come in and take advantage of the new rules? I’ll wager with the later. It’ll be a repeat of the WRC year with newcomer VW becoming the juggernaut. The French squad has used the entire year as r & d while the other teams had to compete. I’ll tap Muller for the title.
Found a video comparing the 2013 and 2014 spec Cruzes. Major changes. Warning, music is terrible.
While on touring cars. Honda has chosen to campaign a Civic wagon in the BTCC. Coincidentally it has now become my favourite touring car for the 2014 season. A turbo wagon racecar. Yes on multiple levels.
I’m liking these new Citroen WTCC cars more and more. Big wheels, big wing, big flares. Our kind of recipe. It really is looking like supertourers 2.0. I’m not sure they’ll be as fast, as they are no where near sophisticated. But it’s a definate step up from S2000 or NGTC spec. Also what’s not to love about throwing sparks under braking? I assume they’ll eliminate that eventually, its just awesome watching it now. The glowing centre exhaust ain’t half bad either.
The 2014 season if the World Trouing Car Championship is shaping up. Citroen has announced a full 3 car factory team lead by NINE time WRC champ Sebastian Loeb. He will pilot the new C-Elysee saloon car.
Honda is currently the only other confirmed factory squad. Lada are assumed to have a 2 car outfit with a new model introduced in 2015. Subaru and Renault are considereing a factory team as well. The blue and gold NEEDS to be racing again. It’s been too long.
The video also shows us the upgrades the new 2014 cars will receive. The new cars are 100mm wider, increase wheel size to 18 from 17s., will allow more aero development and will allow a huge rear wing (parralell to roof height). Unseen are the inclusion of Macpherson strut setups, flat floors, an increase in hp to 380hp (from ~320-330hp) and a shedding of 50 kilos. I don’t think they’re as cool as the supertourers with modified suspension pickups, lowered engine mounts, trick differentials, trannies add electronics, dumped on 19s
